Condominium / Cooperative Housing Law
Torshen, Slobig & Axel, Ltd. has extensive experience in representing condominium associations, cooperative housing boards, community associations, and individual unit owners. We provide counseling with respect to a wide variety of issues and have represented clients in lawsuits involving election disputes, developers, budgets, contractors and management companies, and the interpretation and enforcement of bylaws and rules.
- Pritzker v. Drake Tower Apartments, Inc., Case No. 89 CH 1309 (Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois). We represented a cooperative housing corporation in defending suits involving water leakage, unauthorized construction, etc.
- 175 E. Delaware Place Homeowners Association v. Hinojosa, 287 Ill.App.3d. 886, 679 N.E.2d. 407, 223 Ill.Dec. 222 (1st Dist. 1997). We represented a condominium association in a suit enforcing a rule prohibiting dogs.
- 680 Lake Residence Condominium Association v. Golub Needham Associates, Case No. 91 CH 8275 (Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois). We represented a condominium association in a suit against condominium developer challenging "sweetheart" management contracts.
- York Woods Community Association v. O-Brien, 353 III. App. 3d 293, 818 N.E.2d 350, 288 Ill.Dec. 662 (2d Dist. 2004). We represented a community association in a professional negligence suit against its former attorney.
